Flamingo – fun facts for kids (answersingenesis) The flamingo is known for its bright pink feathers and uniquely downcurved black-tipped bill… The flamingo sucks water and mud into its beak with its unique tongue and then pumps the water out the sides of its mouth. Small creatures are captured in the flamingo’s filtering system of tiny plates. Flamingos feed in a manner similar to that of baleen whales; from scientists who take the Bible seriously.
Greater Flamingo – fun facts for kids (answersingenesis) This bird is known for its long neck, long legs, and pink color. Its plumage is tinged with pink except for the black flight feathers… The pink color of the plumage actually comes from chemicals called carotenoids, which are contained in the algae eaten; from scientists who take the Bible seriously.

They can grow to 3.3–4.6 feet tall and weigh up to 9 pounds. Their wings span 3 to 5.5 feet and they can fly up to 37 miles per hour. Their feathers turn pink because of the pigments (colors) in the foods they eat, such as shrimp, algae, and crustaceans; a beautiful picture of God’s handiwork in creation from scientists who take the Bible seriously.
