Our night sky is filled with a-mazing stars, but none are perfect for life except the Earth. The more we find out, the more we discover that the Earth is unique. So far in Creation Week, we have light (day 1), waters above, waters below (day 2), dry land, plants and beautiful flowers (day 3). The stage is set. But it’s still empty. And there are no critters yet. On Day 4 of Creation week, God continues to SPEAK, creating the sun, moon and all the stars, summed up in that classic understatement, ‘He made the stars also.’ Nothing is too hard for our magnificent God. Blast off into the sky with these Creation Day 4 – FREE colouring pages, puzzles, crafts and creative ideas for kids… and don’t forget to check out the GALAXY SLIME… tons of fun… enjoy!

Creation Day 4 ~ Sun Shine, Moon Glow, Twinkling Stars
THINK SPOT: When we see a building we know there is a builder; when we see a painting, we know there was an artist; and when we look up and see all those beautiful stars twinkling back at us, we know there is a Creator.

BIBLE VERSES
Genesis 1:14-19 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. [Note: God does not mention planets. Just stars. Interesting. And where did He put them…?] And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
Psalm 8:3-4 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visit him?
Psalm 147:4 He tells the number of the stars; he calls them all by their names.
Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork.
Psalm 33:6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
Jeremiah 33:22 …the host of heaven cannot be numbered…
Isaiah 40:25-26 To whom then will ye liken Me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: He calleth them all by names by the greatness of His might, for that He is strong in power; not one faileth.
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.

THINK SPOT
An author recalls one of his professors, “…a quantum physicist, describing what the first few microseconds of the creation of the universe would have looked like. He described in great detail the how contraction and expansion ratio had to be so precise and the margin of error so small. And he added that the exactness demanded of that moment was such that it would be the equivalent of taking aim at a one square inch object ~ twenty billion light years away ~ and hitting it bull’s eye!”

CREATION DAY 4 ~ INFORMATION FOR KIDS ~ FREE PRINTABLE
So how big is our Universe anyway – FREE article for kids (Paper Gifts for Estefany) This free article was inspired by something I spotted over at the soho site (nasa/esa) and is to what they claim is to scale. They claim that it shows how big we are compared to our sun. Not very. But did you know that they also claim that there are other massive stars out there that make OUR SUN look as tiny as Pluto! Woah! If so, our problems, compared to our magnificent God who made all this – AND calls each star by name – are a piece of cake! Encourage your child with this article designed just for them. He knows their name, too, and wants a relationship with them. How cool is that! Also available in French; free printable
Day 4 – Sun shine, moon glow, stars twinkle – FREE article for kids (creation.com) from scientists who take the Bible seriously; On the fourth day of Creation Week, God made the sun, the moon, the planets, and all the stars—billions of them! He just commanded them to come into being, and they did. How awesome is the power of God!
Seven Cs of Gospel history – article for kids (creation.com) On Day 4 God created the sun, the moon, and the planets in our solar system, as well as billions of stars in the billions of galaxies in the universe… “to separate the day from the night”, and “for signs and for seasons, and for days and years”, and “to give light upon the earth” (Genesis 1:14–18). God was able to do this just by commanding them all to exist. Another reason God made them all is: “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork” (Psalm 19:1); beautifully illustrated article from scientists who take the Bible seriously; more creation articles for kids; free printable
101 scientific facts (eternal-productions) written in the Bible centuries before they were discovered from scientists who take the Bible seriously; print off the whole article or include a snippet in each letter, like these:
- Incalculable number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22). At a time when less than 5,000 stars were visible to the human eye, God stated that the stars of heaven were innumerable. Not until the 17th century did Galileo glimpse the immensity of our universe with his new telescope. Today, astronomers estimate that there are ten thousand billion trillion stars – that’s a 1 followed by 25 zeros. Yet, as the Bible states, scientists admit this number may be woefully inadequate.
- The number of stars, though vast, are finite (Isaiah 40:26). Although man is unable to calculate the exact number of stars, we now know their number is finite. Of course God knew this all along – “He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name.” (Psalm 147:4). What an awesome God.
- The Bible compares the number of stars with the number of grains of sand on the seashore (Genesis 22:17; Hebrews 11:12). Amazingly, estimates of the number of sand grains are comparable to the estimated number of stars in the universe.
- The sun goes in a circuit (Psalm 19:6). Some scientists scoffed at this verse and insisted the sun was stationary. However, we now know that the sun is travelling… It is literally moving in a huge circuit – just as the Bible stated 3,000 years ago.
Genesis 1 – Bible commentaries (blueletterBible) include a snippet in your letter or print off a whole article for older children; tons of wonderful information here (both audio and text – and of course, my favourite is Dr Chuck Missler)
Creation Week: Day 4 (answersingenesis) God created the sun, moon, and stars for two reasons. The first is for “signs and seasons, and for days and years.” Did you know that you don’t need a clock to tell what time it is? We can actually use the sun! And the moon determines our months while years are determined… The stars also change depending on the season, and we can use them to determine directions. Ancient sailors, explorers, and travelers used the stars to help them reach their destination…
Were There Days Before God Created the Sun? (icr.org) from scientists who take the Bible seriously; Genesis does not require sunlight for a day to occur. A day just needs a light source that lasts from morning to evening.
Let there be Light – family devotional (answersingenesis) Which came first—light or the sun? Well, according to the Bible—God’s perfect record of the past—the answer is light. On Day One, God said, “Let there be light,” and light came blazing into the universe. Not until Day Four did our Creator design the sun and moon and put them in charge of the days and nights on earth; free printable
Astronomy – Q&A (answersingenesis) It is not commonly known that many of the Bible’s statements about astronomy went against the generally accepted teachings of the time. Modern science, however, has confirmed that the Bible is absolutely correct.
Astronomy – Q&A (creation.com) Is there scientific evidence that our solar system is NOT billions of years old? Yes! And this evidence is posing a mystery for scientists who believe in billions of years.
Answers for Kids – Teacher’s Resource Page (answersingenesis) answers to tons of tricky questions; share a snippet or print off a whole article for your child; free printable
Our Sun – not just another star – article (answersingenesis) our sun is unique, created to support life on Earth – from scientists who take the Bible seriously; free printable
The moon: the light that rules the night – article (creation.com) the moon does what it’s designed to do and is vital for life on Earth; fascinating facts about our moon from scientists who take the Bible seriously.
How big is the universe – How small is an atom? (htwins) Do you find it hard to visualise how big the universe is? Or how small an atom is? Use this fun (online) tool to find out. Click the link, wait for the page to load, select your language, then click the ‘start’ button for a “glimpse into the vastness of creation [that] always leave me in awe of the wonders of God…” Scroll right in under the microscope (micro) ~ and scroll right out to the edge of the universe (macro) ~ with a flick of your mouse and compare it to… say… the size of an elephant. Or a jumbo jet. Or Mount Everest. Tons of fun!
John Hartnett (Biblescienceforum) physicist, cosmologist and physics university professor – ‘one serious scientist’ who fully believes the Bible is the Word of God right from the very first verse of Genesis – information and brochures for older children; also available in Spanish and Portuguese; free printable

DID YOU KNOW: Our God is the one who made all the stars. Our hassles and problems are insignificant to Him. This life is just a test: are we going to just be a ‘fan’ and get distracted by all the world has to offer; or a true ‘follower’ – loving Jesus with ALL our hearts the way He loves us?

THINK SPOT: Visually stunning and presented by PhD scientists full of awe as they explore our Creator’s handiwork and what it reveals about His character, power, wisdom, majesty and care. The whole documentary is fabulous, but in this short segment, they discuss our visible universe. It is now estimated that the universe holds a billion trillion stars. We cannot even begin to grasp the kind of power and energy that represents, all created by God’s Word when He spoke.

nextmanga.com (for purchase) The story of the universe in manga form. A comic book Bible series that keeps kids/teens (and adults!) riveted. Book 1 (Mutiny) tells the story starting from creation in Genesis 1 and up to time of the Exodus from Egypt (somewhere around Exodus 15). And I love how they have added a few extra frames of background history to give a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the true villain of history. The top angel (a created being like us) rebels against the Creator; is kicked out of Heaven; becomes God’s arch enemy; and arrives on earth to create mischief, mayhem and havoc with (as he sneers) ‘God’s favoured ones’ – humans. To rob, kill and destroy. Buy and send a few pages at a time. It’s also an excellent gift idea for a sponsor visit. My kids loved these. Monica told us that it was her favourite book. :)
