BIBLE VERSES
Genesis 1:9-13 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.
Psalm 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or You had ever formed the Earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting You are God.
Psalm 33:8 Let all the Earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For He spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
Amos 4:13 For, lo, He that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is His thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is His name.
Jonah 1:9 I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land.
Genesis 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the Earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.

THINK SPOT
- …whose seed is in itself! Isn’t God amazingly clever?! This solves the famous ‘chicken and the egg’ dilemma… without the chicken, there is no egg! Just like without the plant, there is no baby plant.
- After his kind… roses have baby roses; daisies have baby daisies; wheat has baby wheat; trees have baby trees; and bamboo has baby bamboo. There is plenty of genetic variation within kinds, but one kind does NOT turn into another kind naturally.
- When we see a building we know there is a builder; when we see a painting, we know there was an artist; so when we see creation, we know there is a Creator.
- On Creation Day 3, the sun still has NOT been created. If you have ever wondered if God may have used evil-ution to create, let’s hope all that greenery will survive millions of years before day 4; and then more millions of years before all the little pollinating critters arrive on days 5 and 6. :o

CREATION DAY 3 ~ INFORMATION FOR KIDS ~ FREE PRINTABLE
Day 3 – Dry Land; Green Grass, Juicy Fruit – FREE article for kids (creation.com) On the third day of Creation Week, God continued His work of making the Earth a beautiful place for animals and humans to live. At that stage, the whole earth was still completely covered by water. If you had been there, you would have seen nothing but ocean, with no land poking up anywhere. Did you know that if you leveled out the earth’s surface today, you’d see there’s enough water in the oceans to cover the whole Earth to a depth of almost 3 km/2 miles?… God spoke again and commanded the land to produce all kinds of plants. If you had been there, you would have seen green grass, tall palm trees, and other vegetation spring up from the ground. You would have seen all kinds and colours of flowers begin to bloom—daisies and daffodils, roses and orchids, bluebells and sunflowers, and many, many more. Bushes and trees also formed in all sizes and shapes, and the branches of fruit trees grew heavy with juicy fruit—like apples, mangoes and mulberries, and lots, lots more. God made the first plants all fully grown, but each kind with its own particular seed. This was so that they would reproduce themselves and not something else. Grape vines did not change into mango trees, and peanuts did not change into coconuts. Earth was now a very beautiful place. God had a good look at all that He had made. He was pleased with what He saw, and He declared it to be good; more Creation articles for kids from scientists who take the Bible seriously; free printable
Creation – Seven Cs of Gospel history – FREE article for kids (creation.com) So, on the third day of Creation Week, God commanded the dry land to appear. Parts of the ocean-floor sank down so that water drained off the land. Hills formed on the Earth, as well as flat lands. We don’t know how many continents there were then. There may have been only one, because the Bible says, “the waters were gathered together into one place” (Genesis 1:9). Some of the seven continents we see today may have formed later as a result of Noah’s Flood, when once again, for a time, the Earth was completely covered by water. Also on Day 3, God commanded the land to produce all kinds of vegetation. This included plants and seeds and fruit and trees that animals would feed on instead of eating each other. Also grains and herbs and vegetables and fruit that humans would eat. And all sorts of beautiful flowers and fragrant plants for our enjoyment. The Bible says God made each of these according to its kind (Genesis 1:11–12); a beautifully illustrated article for kids from scientists who take the Bible seriously
101 scientific facts (eternal-productions written in the Bible centuries before they were discovered, like these:
- The Bible states that God created life according to kinds or families (Genesis 1:11). The fact that God distinguishes kinds, agrees with what scientists observe – namely that there are horizontal genetic boundaries beyond which life cannot vary. Life produces after its own kind. Dogs produce dogs, cats produce cats, roses produce roses. Never have we witnessed one kind changing into another kind.
- God has given us the leaves of the trees as medicine (Ezekiel 47:12; Revelation 22:2). Ancient cultures utilized many herbal remedies. Today, modern medicine has rediscovered what the Bible has said all along – there are healing compounds found in plants.
- The seed of a plant contains its life (Genesis 1:11; 1:29). As stated in the Book of Genesis, we now recognize that inside the humble seed is life itself. Within the seed is a tiny factory of amazing complexity. No scientist can build a synthetic seed and no seed is simple!
- A seed must die to produce new life (1 Corinthians 15:36-38). Jesus said, “unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.” (John 12:24). In this verse is remarkable confirmation of two of the fundamental concepts in biology: 1) Cells arise only from existing cells. 2) A grain must die to produce more grain. The fallen seed is surrounded by supporting cells from the old body. These supporting cells “give their lives” to provide nourishment to the inner kernel. Once planted, this inner kernel germinates resulting in much grain.
- Soil conservation (Leviticus 23:22). Not only was the land to lay fallow every seventh year, but God also instructed farmers to leave the gleanings when reaping their fields, and not to reap the corners (sides) of their fields. This served several purposes: 1) Vital soil minerals would be maintained. 2) The hedge row would limit wind erosion. 3) The poor could eat the gleanings. Today, approximately four billion metric tons of soil are lost from U.S. crop lands each year. Much of this soil depletion could be avoided if God’s commands were followed.

THINK SPOT: Every seed is a miniature miracle. The Creator made each plant to produce after its own KIND. Inside each seed is a little baby plant that already has leaves, a stem, a root. It is filled with all kinds of environmental receptors so that it knows what temperature, moisture/humidity and oxygen there is. All these things have to be present before it will sprout. The Creator installed miniature (and disposable) solar panels in every green leaf that are programmed to face the sun in order to receive its energy to power its chemical factories. The Creator designed leaves to absorb man’s waste gas (CO2) and release oxygen that every creature needs for survival; and hydrogen is used to make sugars. This cycle, called photosynthesis is the basis for all our food supply. God made everything in creation to fit together in an intricate pattern to reflect His glory. And in order for it to work properly, it all had to be there – plants, the sun and the animals – right from the very beginning. There are a magnificent variety of blossoms all reflecting a sliver of God’s splendour, each with their own distinctive flower, colour, fruit and fragrance. Even more amazing, God uses the same elements – soil, light and water – to produce all of them. The whole documentary is fabulous, but listen to the awe in the voices of these scientists who take the Bible seriously as they discuss God’s exquisite designs in plants in this short segment…

Space Age Leaves – origami (answersingenesis) How do you design a huge solar panel that can be folded up and stored in a tiny rocket for blasting off into space? nextmanga.com (for purchase) The story of the universe in manga form. A comic book Bible series that keeps kids/teens (and adults!) riveted. Book 1 (Mutiny) tells the story starting from creation in Genesis 1 and up to time of the Exodus from Egypt (somewhere around Exodus 15). And I love how they have added a few extra frames of background history to give a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the true villain of history. The top angel (a created being like us) rebels against the Creator; is kicked out of Heaven; becomes God’s arch enemy; and arrives on earth to create mischief, mayhem and havoc with (as he sneers) ‘God’s favoured ones’ – humans. To rob, kill and destroy. Buy and send a few pages at a time. It’s also an excellent gift idea for a sponsor visit. My kids loved these. Monica told us that it was her favourite book. :)
