In the beginning… GOD. When God made something out of nothing… He simply spoke and then it was. Wow! He didn’t need time. He just needed talent. And our magnificent God has that in abundance. Before we dive into the individual days of creation, let’s just stop and think about that for a bit. Here are some Bible free printables for kids to get us started…
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not… He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not… And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:1-14
Giving thanks unto the Father, which has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Colossians 1:12-17
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exodus 20:11
WHO WAS THE CREATOR… FATHER, SON OR HOLY SPIRIT?
Different Scriptures show us that every major event in the Bible is ascribed specifically to each member of Elohim (the Trinity). Totally confusing, until you realise that they are the same; equal, yet different; working seamlessly together as One. This chart sets it out simply and clearly. Dr Chuck Missler often likens it to three executives of a corporation, all working in unity toward a common goal. Separate, yet one. There are many verses in Scripture about creation, but here are just a few.
The creation of the universe was attributed to the:
- Father in Psalm 102:25;
- Son in Colossians 1:16 and John 1:1-3; and
- Holy Spirit in Genesis 1:2 and Job 26:13.
The creation of man was attributed to the:
IN THE BEGINNING – THOUGHTS TO INCLUDE IN YOUR LETTER
Ephesians 1:4-7 tells us that God chose us [when…?] before the foundation of the world… woah!
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.
Dr Ravi Zacharias recalls one of his professors, “…a quantum physicist, describing what the first few microseconds of the creation of the universe would have looked like. He described in great detail the how contraction and expansion ratio had to be so precise and the margin of error so small. And he added that the exactness demanded of that moment was such that it would be the equivalent of taking aim at a one square inch object ~ twenty billion light years away ~ and hitting it bull’s eye!” Wow! Who wouldn’t want to worship a God like that? I need a BIG God. How about you? Share this incredible snippet with your sponsored child.
eternal-productions.org 101 scientific facts written down in the Bible centuries before they were discovered, like these:
1. The earth free-floats in space (Job 26:7), affected only by gravity. Other sources declared the earth sat on the back of an elephant or turtle, or was held up by Atlas. The Bible alone states what we now know to be true – “He hangs the earth on nothing.”
2. The First Law of Thermodynamics established (Genesis 2:1-2). The First Law states that the total quantity of energy and matter in the universe is a constant. One form of energy or matter may be converted into another, but the total quantity always remains the same. Therefore the creation is finished, exactly as God said way back in Genesis.
3. The universe had a beginning (Genesis 1:1; Hebrews 1:10-12). Starting with the studies of Albert Einstein in the early 1900s and continuing today, science has confirmed the biblical view that the universe had a beginning. When the Bible was written most people believed the universe was eternal. Science has proven them wrong, but the Bible correct.
4. The first three verses of Genesis accurately express all known aspects of the creation (Genesis 1:1-3). Science expresses the universe in terms of: time, space, matter, and energy. In Genesis chapter one we read: “In the beginning (time) God created the heavens (space) and the earth (matter)…Then God said, “Let there be light (energy).” No other creation account agrees with the observable evidence.
5. The earth is a sphere (Isaiah 40:22). At a time when many thought the earth was flat, the Bible told us that the earth is spherical. …and many more…

Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning Jesus was there – devotional thoughts from Darrell Creswell (click to read Darrell’s full post, but here is a snippet) “…Knowing that the Son of God was there at creation should make your heart jump for joy! What wonderful, happy thoughts should there be in our hearts, that Jesus, in whom we worship, and in whose name we pray was there at creation!… In the beginning, the earth was without form and void. There was only darkness, nothingness, confusion, and emptiness. But God made a new thing–He created the heavens and the earth. Likewise, in the same manner, we are without form, void in our hearts as we are born into sin. There is darkness, nothingness, confusion and emptiness in our lives. But God did a new thing in Christ Jesus–the work of grace…”

nextmanga.com (for purchase) The story of the universe in manga form. A comic book Bible series that keeps kids/teens (and adults!) riveted. Book 1 (Mutiny) tells the story starting from Genesis 1 and up to time of the Exodus (somewhere around Exodus 15). And I love how they have added a few extra frames of background history to give a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the true villain of history. The top angel (a created being like us) rebels against the Creator; is kicked out of Heaven; becomes God’s arch enemy; and arrives on earth to create mischief, mayhem and havoc with (as he sneers) ‘God’s favoured ones’ – humans. To rob, kill and destroy. Buy and send a few pages at a time. It’s also an excellent gift idea for a sponsor visit. My kids loved these. Monica told us that it was her favourite book. :)
