Joshua, a man of courage and faith and a great role model for our boys, started out life as a slave in Egypt. He was chosen by God to train under Moses, and then to take over leading the nation of Israel into the Promised Land when Moses died. We first meet Joshua in Exodus 17:9 as a warrior and a leader, then as an undercover agent (with Caleb, another warrior of faith) shortly after the Israelites left Egypt. Rahab is later rescued from Jericho and joins God’s people. In this post you will find FREE Joshua, Caleb and Rahab colouring pages, puzzles, crafts and creative ideas for kids… enjoy!

BIBLE VERSES
Exodus 33:11 And the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he turned again into the camp, but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
…but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tent. He stayed in God’s presence. Wow! I love that verse. Joshua’s preparation for leadership was to spend time in the presence of God.
Bible verses about Joshua training under Moses
Joshua also has his own book in the Bible – here are a couple of my favourite verses from it:
Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 24:15 …choose you this day whom you will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Numbers 13 Read the story of Joshua and Caleb as undercover agents. It’s the story of faith vs fear, that ended with tragic consequences. God had a wonderful plan for the nation of Israel. They had been freed as slaves from Egypt and were finally at the borders of the Promised Land. The land God had promised to Abraham 400+ years before. The land was ‘flowing with milk and honey’ with green grass for the cows and flowers for the bees. But there was a problem. A big one. The land was filled with giants. Real giants. Scripture tells us that one of their beds was 9 cubits long and 4 cubits wide. A cubit is roughly 18 inches. Ten spies give a report of fear – they had their eyes on the giants, the problem – and manage to infect the people with terrifying fear, condemning the whole nation to tragic consequences and wandering around in the wilderness for many years. And they had good reason. Those guys were BIG. [Click here to give you an idea.] Only Caleb and Joshua had courage and faith. How? They had their eyes on God – and not on the problem.

THINK SPOT: What giants are you dealing with right now? Where are our eyes when the giants enter our lives? Do we look at the giants and freak out; or are our eyes firmly on our God – and how big HE is? I love this pic from Darrell Creswell… no matter how big the giants are that you are wrestling with, God is bigger than our problems… just had to share it with you!

JOSHUA AND CALEB
- About Joshua and Caleb ~ Men of courage and faith ~ undercover agents ~ warriors and leaders ~ information for kids
Joshua – man of courage and faith and a great role model for our boys – started out life as a slave in Egypt. He was chosen by God to train under Moses; and then to take over leading the nation of Israel into the Promised Land when Moses died. We first meet Joshua in Exodus 17:9 as a warrior and leader, then as an undercover agent with Caleb, shortly after the Israelites left Egypt. When the other 10 undercover agents terrified the people with stories of real giants, Caleb and Joshua choose faith in the One True God. They encouraged the people that they had already witnessed His great miracles, and knew that God was the Creator, and as such, way bigger than any problem they would encounter.
Giants in the Land! (Chuck Missler) When God had revealed to Abraham that the land of Canaan was to be given to him, Satan had over 400 years to plant his “mine field” of Nephilim! When Moses sent his twelve spies to reconnoiter the Land of Canaan, they came back with the report of giants in the land. (The term used was Nephilim.) Their fear of those terrifying creatures resulted in their being relegated to wandering in the wilderness for 38 years. When Joshua and the nation Israel later entered the land of Canaan, they were instructed to wipe out every man, woman and child of certain tribes…
Joshua – The Conquering Hero (Chuck Missler) “…Earning his spurs as an undercover agent, he, along with his confederate, Caleb, were the only two out of the twelve spies that brought Moses a good report. So, forty years later, he was selected to take command of the nation during the conquest of the land of the covenant dispossessing the usurpers…”
Joshua and the Day the sun stood still (Chuck Missler) Joshua (in Hebrew) = Jesus (in Anglicized Greek); As we examine the Book of Joshua carefully, we notice that it seems to be a precursor to the book of Revelation: another Yehoshua, as Commander-in-Chief, will dispossess the planet Earth of its usurpers, first sending in two witnesses, then with a series of judgments of sevens, finally defeats the kings with signs in the sun, moon, etc. The kings hide in caves, etc… Joshua’s actions at Jericho strangely parallel the events in the Book of Revelation: he first sends in two witnesses, he defeats the enemy with seven trumpets, and he seems to ignore the numerous ordinances in the Torah. The book of Joshua:
- is a manual for spiritual warfare
- is a prophetic anticipation of the Book of Revelation
- gives the background to Israel’s claim to the land
Why did God tell Joshua to completely exterminate ALL men, women, children AND animals from 8 specific tribes? If this question has ever bothered you – and it should – this article by Dr Chuck Missler is for you. Further reading here; here; and here.

RAHAB ~ FOR KIDS ~ FREE PRINTABLE
- About Rahab – Woman of Faith ~ Information for kids
Rahab lived in Jericho and was a Gentile woman of doubtful reputation. She chooses faith in the One True God after having heard how He rescued His people from Egypt and so she hid the Israelite undercover agents when they visited Jericho. In return, they promise to protect her and her family, and they were rescued when her city of Jericho fell and God Himself began to give the Promised Land to Israel. She becomes the mother of Boaz, the hero in the Book of Ruth, who links Bethlehem with the House of David, and subsequently emerges in the genealogy of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah and Son of God.
Rahab (Chuck Missler) let the spies down by a red cord or rope and tells the spies to go and hide in the mountains for 3 days. Why 3 days? Why not 2 days or 4 days? Chuck Missler discusses how the Holy Spirit was behind it, orchestrating every detail of Scripture – and also the use of the Hebrew word ‘cord’. The word for ‘cord’ that Rahab used can also mean ‘pain, suffering, trauma’. However when the spies talk about the same red cord and how they plan to come back and save Rahab and her family, they use a different word for ‘cord’ that can also mean ‘hope’. Between them, is 3 days. Just as there were 3 days between Jesus’ death and resurrection. There are evidences of design within the text of Scripture and the Lord Jesus is written into every page.

JOSHUA AND THE BATTLE OF JERICHO ~ ENTRY TO THE PROMISED LAND
- Information for kids
Joshua – The Conquering Hero (Chuck Missler) The Book of Joshua is a book of adventure and conquest – even the days were not long enough for his battles! His name is the same as Jesus, but in Hebrew rather than Greek: Yeho-Shua, or Joshua. Earning his spurs as an undercover agent, he, along with his confederate, Caleb, were the only two out of the twelve spies that brought Moses a good report. So, forty years later, he was selected to take command of the nation during the conquest of the land of the covenant-dispossessing the usurpers. This “Sixth book of the Torah” is a book of both physical and spiritual battles with many lessons for all of us.
Uncovering the Bible’s Buried Cities: Jericho (armstronginstitute) How archaeological discoveries from the first city conquered in the Promised Land correspond with Biblical history. An incredible location in its own right, Jericho claims the record for being the lowest city in the world (800 feet below sea level). It is also regarded as the most ancient city ever discovered… Archaeological excavations from this period of destruction show that the outer brick wall had in fact collapsed outwards, falling “flat” around the city base. Normally, a besieged city’s wall would be demolished inwards by invaders attempting to enter… thus creating a perfect ramp up the retaining wall and into the open city. Thus, the Israelites “went up into the city.”
Is this the remains of Rahab’s house? (armstronginstitute) After parading around the city for seven days, a miraculous earthquake took place, and the walls “fell down flat”—all except for Rahab’s apartment (which made up a part of the casemate wall). Remarkably, evidence of these collapsed walls, the post-destruction burning of the city, and even a small remaining part of the casemate wall (Rahab’s house?)—has been found at Tel Jericho, dating to this same period in biblical chronology.
And the sun stood still (armstronginstitute) …there are various ancient legends of an incredibly long “day” or “night” from numerous cultures… In the ancient Chinese writings there is a legend of a long day. The Incas of Peru and the Aztecs of Mexico have a like record, and there is a Babylonian and a Persian legend of a day that was miraculously extended. Another section of China contributes an account of the day that was miraculously prolonged, in the reign of Emperor Yeo. Herodotus recounts that the priests of Egypt showed him their temple records, and that there he read a strange account of a day that was twice the natural length… We find some desperate correspondence from Canaanite rulers to the pharaoh of Egypt dating to the 14th century B.C… The letters describe a fierce group of “nomads” invading Canaan... Terrified Canaanite rulers, subservient to Egypt, were watching as the entire land of Canaan fell to these invaders… The Amarna Letters are eyewitness accounts…
Joshua – Dead Sea Scroll (schoyencollection) a fragment of the book of Joshua, discovered at Qumran
Tombs of Joshua and Caleb (israelnationalnews) Just four times a year, the IDF opens the Arab village Timnat Hares for Jewish visitors to the graves of the Biblical Joshua and Caleb… to mark the anniversary of the passing of Joshua, the great Jewish leader and successor to Moses. We pulled into a makeshift parking lot outside the entrance to Timnat Hares, the mountaintop mentioned in the Book of Joshua; real people, real history.
