When writing to your sponsored child, it doesn’t have to be a long letter. The most important thing is to shower your child with your love and they will blossom. One of our readers, Kathy, shares her amazing gift of encouraging words with us in a lovely sample letter she wrote to her sponsored child. With what could be ahead for many of our children, this is a vital message of love and encouragement for them. It will need to be slightly adapted as you will see this one was written a couple of months ago… enjoy!

Dear ______________
How are you? How is your family? What is happening in your life now? We are doing fine.
Next week is a small holiday called St. Patrick’s Day. Many white people here are descended from people who emigrated from Ireland. About 500 years after Jesus, there was a Christian man named Patrick who went to Ireland to teach the people there about Jesus. It is said that he used a common plant called a shamrock with 3 leaves to explain how God the Father, Jesus Christ the son, and the Holy Spirit are different but at the same time they are one God. It is difficult to understand this and many things that are happening in the world around us, but we will understand all things when we see Jesus face to face. Acts 1:6-10 and 2 Thessalonians 2 tell us that Jesus will return again. When I hear about the killing and persecution of Christians all over the world, I think that the return of Jesus is likely to be in our lifetime, maybe soon. Hold strongly to your faith in God and do not be afraid, even if our Lord Jesus asks you to suffer for Him. Be ready always because we do not know when Jesus will return for us. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 says: For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words. And so I encourage you to read your Bible as often as you can, my daughter. Memorize God’s words, so that if you are ever separated from your Bible then you will still have God’s words in your heart. Remember that nothing can ever separate us from His love. Nothing. I am so proud of you. I have the photos of you and your family where I can look at them every day. How happy I am to look at your lovely photos. I love you so very much. Give my loving and respectful greeting to your family also. We pray for you and your family every day, also the teachers and pastor at your project. I say goodbye for now with much love…

And once again, Kathy closed her letter with some fun family photos, knowing that our sponsored children love updated photos of us as much as we eagerly love updated photos of them. Please show your appreciation for Kathy for sharing this with us and leave her an encouraging comment.
