Armour of God ~ Links

The main spiritual battle is won – that is what we celebrate during Passover – but there is still a huge mop-up operation going on that so far has lasted nearly 2000 years. It is absolutely vital to be properly ‘dressed’, as for now we still live behind enemy lines and await the final showdown. There are 7 elements to the armour of God. What are they? ARMOUR OF GOD ~ BIBLE VERSES

Ephesians 6:10-20 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always [that’s number 7 – our heavy artillery, the big guns] with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

2 Corinthians 6:1-7 We then, as workers together with Him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain… but in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God… by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness…

1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

Isaiah 59:15-17 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departs from evil makes himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased Him that there was no judgment. And He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore His arm brought salvation unto him; and His righteousness, it sustained him. For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon His head; and He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.

ARMOUR OF GOD ~ INFORMATION FOR KIDS

Armour of God (Nancy Missler) Reflections of His image. God is the One who furnishes us with this armor, but we are the ones who must constantly choose to put it on… It’s very exciting because each piece of armor listed in Ephesians 6 seems to line up perfectly with our own internal architecture—spirit, heart, willpower, soul and body. Let’s read Ephesians 6:13-19 and see God’s Armor of Light perhaps in a little different perspective.

Spiritual Warfare is Real (original link removed, but still a great idea for our kids) TV and movies glamorise and trivialise the idea of spiritual warfare, but it is becoming increasingly obvious that spiritual warfare is real. satan and his followers know that the Lord Jesus has defeated them, but they are not going down without a fight, and actively work to lure and tempt as many people away from God and coming to the cross as possible. How do we protect our children? Do not be afraid to talk about satan and his tactics to our children. Use Ephesians 6 to prepare our children to be victorious soldiers in this fight. satan is far more powerful than us, but he is only a created being. God is the Creator and the One True God. The evil one is a wanna-be, a rogue angel who wants to be worshipped and become LIKE God. God does not leave us alone to fight by ourselves. He has given us seven pieces of armour that will protect us. God is way more powerful than satan, and all those who choose his side will ultimately lose.

ARMOUR OF GOD ~ MAKE YOUR OWN

Knight – make your own notepaper using a blank shield shape; add 4 per A4 page and make your own notepaper in the shape of a shield. Add your child’s name and Bible verse from Joshua 24:15 or Ephesians 6:13 – ‘So put on God’s armour now. Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy’s attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground’. When I did this for my own children, I found a colouring page of a knight holding a large shield with notepaper lines across the actual shield; I added a Bible verse and my child’s name… voila! Personalised knight notepaper. I can’t find the original image I used, but a blank shield will work just as well. Add your own creative touch.
