Genesis Patriarchs ~ Links

in this post you will find the Genesis Patriarchs ~ Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, plus Sarah, Lot, Rebekah, Hagar, Ishmael, Esau, Leah, Rachel ~ FREE colouring pages, puzzles, crafts, activities, stories for kids, how they all fit in, and more. And it’s also the story of two brothers, Ishmael and Isaac, which affects our world very much today. One, the child of the promise, the line of the Messiah. One, the child of ‘helpful human intervention’ while waiting for the promise. The result: sibling rivalry, jealousy, generational hatred, murder and unforgiveness… multiplied exponentially throughout millennia. This explains much of the hatred towards the Jewish people that we see on our daily news bulletins today. They are the descendants of Isaac and more particularly, his son, Jacob (later called Israel), and the people group that the Messiah was born into a couple of thousand years ago.

THE MESSIAH ~ THE SCARLET THREAD ~ DETECTIVE THRILLER AND THE ULTIMATE DRAMA OF ALL TIME

(Dr Chuck Missler)  God promised the Messiah, the ultimate superhero, back in Genesis 3. “It began with a declaration of war… God Himself declared war on the ruler of this world: Satan. A cosmic conflict in which you and I are the prizes… Where would this mysterious deliverer come from? The clues kept on coming… He would be a descendant of Adam. Thus, Satan’s subsequent stratagem was an attempt to contaminate the human gene pool… But that plan was a total washout. Only eight [plus Enoch] were saved from the judgment of the Flood… [Then] God revealed that His plan would focus on a descendant of Abraham Then we discovered that He would be a descendant of David. Ominously, a chain of attacks ensued to wipe out his family. Again and again there were attempts to eliminate his heirs [and thus destroy the Messiah] but there was always an intervention that foiled the diabolical plots…The most thrilling aspect to this gripping drama is that the final climax is next… [and is] about to begin…”  Read more

BIBLE VERSES

Genesis 11  is where the story of Abraham (formerly Abram) and his family starts. Read the story for yourself direct from the original source.

Matthew 1:1  This is the official genealogy of the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, the son of King David, the son of Abraham, giving Jesus Christ legal claim to the throne of King David of Israel, through His legal father, Joseph, who was a descendant of King David and Abraham (Note: NOT the Joseph in this post).

(You can find the complete genealogy from Jesus Christ back to King David and Abraham and then all the way back to Adam in Luke 3. This gives Jesus Christ the bloodline claim to the throne of King David, through His mother, Mary, who also was a descendant of King David and Abraham.)

Romans 4:3  Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

James 2:23  Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness, and he was called the Friend of God.

Hebrews 11:8-22  By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise. For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for He hath prepared for them a city. By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure. By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff. By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.

ABRAHAM

  • Information

God makes a promise to Abraham  (creation.com) The bible is full of promises made by God. Some of them were very special because they involved a very special happening or a very special relationship between God and certain people. These special promises are called covenants… God intended that something very special would happen in one nation. Through this nation, God planned to send His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of the world. But first He had to form that nation. To do this, God chose a man named Abram. Abram was a great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Noah. God told Abram to leave his homeland, Ur, and go and live in the land of Canaan. Abram obeyed God, and God made a covenant with him. God promised Abram that his descendants would become a great nation, and that through Abram all the families on earth would be blessed. This blessing would come through the Lord Jesus Christ, Abram’s unique “seed” or descendant… Abraham had a son named Isaac, who in turn had a son whose name was Jacob. When Jacob grew up, he had 12 sons. God gave Jacob a new name, too—Israel…

Abraham’s Burial Site ~ Hidden until 1981  (khouse.org) In 1981, Dr. Seev Jevin, Director of the Israel Antiquities Authority, forced himself through a narrow opening in the underground grave chamber of the Machpela cave, where Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were believed to be buried… Behind bolted doors in Yitzhak Hall, the secret entrance in the southeast wall was opened… he forced himself through a narrow entrance, went down 16 steps and crawled along a 20-meters long, 60-cm high and 100-cm wide tunnel… stumbled on a floor plate… found a hole and slid through the narrow opening… a passage to a second smaller oval room… the name “Machpela” itself means “double cave”… guarded its secret for 4,000 years; a fascinating archaeological discovery and the story behind it.

The Birth of a Nation  (Christiananswers) Now about four hundred years after the Great Flood, God appeared to a man named Abram, who lived in the Middle East, in a city called Ur. Abrams home was in a city called UR, there God appeared to him. God said to him, “Leave your country and your relatives, and travel to a land that I will show you. There I will make a great nation from you, and I will bless you, and make your name great; I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you: and through you shall all families of the Earth be blessed.” So Abram departed, as the Lord had instructed, and entered into the land of Canaan.

Has Sodom and Gomorrah been found?  (wnd) …an archaeologist who believes, following 12 years of sifting sand near the Dead Sea in Jordan, that he has found the ruins of the largest twin cities in the area, one that fits all the criteria of the Bible account. Steven Collins, a professor of biblical studies and apologetics at Trinity Southwest University, says a “monstrous” site in Tall el-Hammam in the southern Jordan Valley, which lies eight miles northeast of the Dead Sea, perfectly matches the biblical descriptions of the “city of sin,” destroyed in a day by fire and brimstone. The BIG test, but… WHY?!

READ:  (Dr Chuck Missler) Why did God test Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his son in this bizarre incident? God specifically condemns child sacrifice, so what was He doing? God was sharing His heart with Abraham, as well as testing his love, faith and obedience. Abraham knew Isaac would be resurrected if killed. God had promised Abraham that Isaac would have children. It was God’s problem, not Abraham’s. Abraham also knew that he was acting out a prophecy. As Abraham and Isaac climb the hill (after telling the men they would both return), Isaac asks, “Where is the lamb?” Abraham answers, “God will provide… (who?)… Himself a lamb…” and 2000 years later, another Father did, in fact, offer His only Son on that very spot; and that time, there was no reprieve. Isaac was a willing participant in this test of faith – and most likely not a boy, as he is carrying the wood for his aged father and the next thing that is recorded in Scripture is his mother dying when he was 37 years old. [Could Isaac have been 33 years old?! An interesting speculation.] Abraham is a “type” of the Father; Isaac a “type” of the Son, Jesus (who was also a willing participant); the entire episode an anticipation of the cross. Read more…

Why did God ‘hate’ Esau, when Jacob was just as bad?!  Dr. J. Vernon McGee gives us a devastatingly simple answer… and it is a reflection of what we see happening right across our world today. Share it with your child.

Who are the Edomites?  (Dr. Chuck Missler) There are more Bible passages pronouncing judgment on the Edomites than on any other nation. But who are they? What relevance do they have for us today?… many orthodox Jews today continue to view the international “globalists” as Edomites…

Jacob’s Biblical Sheep arrive in the Promised Land  (israel365) The 2,000-year saga of the return of Jacob’s sheep to the Holy Land as prophesied by Ezekiel was officially launched with the first of 11 flights… Though the breed has its genetic roots in the Holy Land, there were no Jacob’s Sheep in the Middle East today. That all changed when it was decided to bring Jacob’s flock home.

Streaked, Speckled, and Spotted  (israel365) After a dramatic journey, the first of Jacob’s lambs were born in the land of Israel in over two millennia and made their auspicious appearance. The precious flock of Jacob’s Sheep, a rare breed experts believe originated in Israel, finally returned after a journey of 2,000 years.

Did you know:  Have you ever noticed the many similarities in Joseph’s story to Jesus Christ’s? Jesus Himself stated ‘the volume of the book – i.e. the Old Testament – it is written about Me’. The New Testament hadn’t been written yet, when He said that. Joseph is a ‘type’ of Jesus Christ. Joseph is only one of two people of whom there is no bad recorded against him in Scripture. That doesn’t mean he didn’t sin. It’s just not recorded. Who is the other person? Click here to find the answer.

Hebrew – the oldest known language  (breakingisraelnews) Egyptian hieroglyphics are one of the oldest forms of written communication, however, this ancient Hebrew discovery is about to rewrite history. Archaeologist Dr Douglas Petrovich’s study of the inscribed Egyptian stone slabs asserts that the writings are actually an early form of Hebrew. He believes that the stones recall the Bible’s descriptions about the Israelites living in Egypt and concludes that they transformed Egyptian hieroglyphics into Hebrew more than 3,800 years ago. He also found the Biblical figure, Joseph who was sold into slavery by his half-brothers and became the most powerful leader of Egypt after Pharaoh, as well as Joseph’s wife, Asenath, and their sons Manasseh and Ephraim. Petrovich is proud to use the Bible as his source for proving his translations. “I have no doubt whatsoever that Hebrew is the world’s oldest alphabet.” Share some of this information with your child; let them know that these are NOT just Sunday school ‘stories’, but REAL people in REAL history; and that the Bible is the history book of the universe

David Rohl  (creation.com) an expert Egyptologist and agnostic, has a passion for teaching others the knowledge that he has accumulated. Is this Joseph?  Here he speaks about an amazing archaeological find, an Egyptian pyramid honouring a very important official, but clearly the person honoured by this pyramid was NOT Egyptian… a huge statue smashed… the bones were missing… could this possibly be Joseph of the Bible? Is this what he looked like?

Joseph in Egypt  (patternsofevidence) Have you ever asked yourself did the events in the Bible really happened? A lot of people like you and me have, if they are honest, admit to suffering from doubts. They want to know, Is their faith real? Is it worth dying for?… For over 12 years I continued to work on the investigation and made a film called, Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus. During that time, my doubts and questions were answered and my belief was confirmed. What I found was an incredible pattern of evidence matching this foundational biblical account. The ARRIVAL of Joseph and his family in Egypt, their MULTIPLICATION and ENSLAVEMENT, the JUDGMENT of Egypt, the EXODUS of the people of Israel out of Egypt, and the CONQUEST of the Promised Land. There was evidence for every step!
