Do you know anyone who has ever risen from the dead? We can visit the grave of every other person who has ever lived and died. Princes. Kings. Queens. Tyrants. Dictators. World famous leaders. Everyone who has paraded through the pages of history, including ALL other religious leaders of the world. They were all created beings just like the rest of us. But if you visit the grave of our Lord Jesus Christ – you will find that it is EMPTY. Why? Jesus Christ is God ~ the Creator of the universe. King of kings and Lord of lords. He only needed it for the weekend!
The Creator vs the created… that’s the difference
He is not here.
Everybody else is… but HE is RISEN!
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again
the third day according to the scriptures.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
Easter (or more accurately, Passover) finishes off the Christmas story. That little baby in the manger grew up to die on the cross. For my sins. For your sins. He was born to die, so that we could have eternal life!
And this is the Gospel – the GOOD NEWS!
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
That’s me! That’s YOU! Wow!!!
And strange as it may seem, so close to Christmas, it’s already time to think about Easter letters for our Compassion children. In this post you will find FREE Biblical Easter / Christian Easter / Passover Bible verses, colouring pages, puzzles, crafts, games, resurrection egg ideas, posters, paper gifts, stationery, devotionals, booklets, Gospel kaleidoscopes, jelly bean prayer cards; sorting fact from fiction; fun things to do with your own family and even some music to help you prepare your heart and reflect on the resurrection… or maybe you may prefer to dance your shoes off while you are preparing your packages of love. There’s a lot to choose from, so take a deep breath and here we go… enjoy!
TRIUMPHAL ENTRY OF JESUS INTO JERUSALEM FOR KIDS ~ FREE PRINTABLE
FREE Triumphal Entry Article for Kids, colouring pages, puzzles, crafts and creative ideas – this aspect of the Easter / Passover story is what I am concentrating on for my kids this year. I was astonished (and they will be, too) to learn that Daniel was given the exact date – to the very day – that the Messiah would present Himself as King. That is why Daniel’s team of Magi came to visit at Christmas time. They had been counting… and were expecting Him. And it took the head of Scotland Yard to figure it out for the rest of us.
BIBLE VERSES ~ Read the true story of Easter for yourself!
Read what really happened that first century Passover with the true life accounts of eyewitnesses who were there (most of whom were tortured and lost their lives for insisting it was true and they really had seen the risen Lord Jesus Christ)
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
Isaiah 50:6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair. I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
Isaiah 53 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all… (and lots more; make sure you read the whole chapter; fabulous)
Psalm 22 (this prophetic passage reads as if it was dictated by Jesus Christ from the cross. It was written centuries before crucifixion was invented and 700 years before it happened).
1 Corinthians 2:7-8 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew; for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
QUOTE: “Jesus Christ is on every single page of the Bible, even in the Old Testament. When we discover that, it totally changes our perspective. Look for Him on every page.” Dr Chuck Missler
BIBLICAL EASTER ~ DEVOTIONALS ~ PREPARING OUR HEARTS ~ SORTING OUT FACT FROM FICTION
The Amazing Scarlet Worm Have you heard the amazing story about the scarlet (or crimson) worm? The female adheres herself permanently to a tree, lays her eggs protectively under her body; covers herself and her eggs with a scarlet dye; and literally gives her life to feed her young. A crimson spot is left on the branch that dries out in 3 days, and changes to white as it flakes off. This tiny insect is an amazing picture of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Meshiach Nagid (the Messiah The King); read more about it then share it with your child
A call to the people of the cross a beautiful and powerful devotional from Ann Voskamp…
“At some point — your love runs out… The only love that can come take down the kind of evil that’s invaded our world, has to come from beyond the walls of the world. The only love that can crush undeniable evil is the undeniable love of the Cross… Whatever we look at is what we become… What if for 40 Days we looked to the Cross — so we might become Cross Love in a world caught in the cross hairs of war and heartache and pain?…“
Good Friday? Friday, Thursday or even maybe Wednesday? (Dr Chuck Missler) Jesus declared that He would be in the heart of the earth three days AND three nights. Nowhere in the Gospels does it assert that Christ was crucified on a Friday. So how does it all fit and where did this tradition come from?
What really happened at Easter – busting myths and legends (Dr Chuck Missler) Ever wondered what rabbits have to do with eggs? Most of us are aware that many Christmas traditions have pagan origins and very little to do with Biblical events. However, we may be surprised to discover that much of what we have been taught about Easter is not only in error, but deliberately so.
Spring = God’s Promise of Eternal Life “Not death, Toots–life! Resurrection life! Eternal life!…Walter told me to come out here and see God’s promise for myself!… Oh the wonder of it! The outrageous beauty! God didn’t have to give us cherry blossoms, you know. He didn’t have to make apple trees and peach trees burst into flower and fragrance. But God just loves to splurge. He gives us all this magnificence and then, if that isn’t enough, He provides fruit from such extravagance!” ~ Share this wonderful word picture with your child.
Why Doing Lent Is What You Really Need. Make a Jesus tree (like the Jesse tree) and Free Family Devotional from Ann Voskamp – “It’s the preparing the heart for Easter. Like going with Jesus into the wilderness for forty days, that we might come face to ugly face with our enemy. Our sacrificing that we might become more like Christ in His sacrifice…. I close the eyes tight and the heart cries, the words silent. “Do I love You so little?”
Sermon notes from Chuck Smith Some great thoughts to include in your letter – ‘Though He was rich, yet for our sakes He became poor.’
What is your favourite Easter reflection? Isaiah 53 is a well known Easter reflection. Psalm 22 reads as though it was dictated from the cross. But I had never thought of Lamentations 3 as an Easter reflection before…
Every time we will look at His face we will know how much we are loved Ever wondered why nobody seemed to recognise Jesus after the resurrection until He spoke to them or showed them His hands? I wonder if these Bible verses are a clue. Dr Chuck Missler has a look at this strange mystery…
A glimpse into Christ’s suffering (Answers in Genesis) by a modern medical doctor; the physical suffering that Jesus willingly endured was beyond horrific. To understand the extent of His suffering is to get a better glimpse of His love for us and the price He was willing to pay to redeem each and every one of us. It is freely available to all. The choice is ours.
THINK SPOT: How many of your sins were yet future when Jesus hung on that cross 2000 years ago? Answer: ALL of them! How many of your sins were a surprise to Him? Answer: None of them. Remember that if you are ever tempted to think that ‘the rest is up to you now’; you need to be ‘good enough’ or that you need to ‘try harder’ to ‘earn’ your salvation. We can NEVER add to what Jesus has done. That’s blasphemy. Or that you have blown it ‘too badly’ to ever be forgiven. We all have. Remember the Christians’ bar of soap – 1 John 1:9. It was written to Christians. NONE of us ‘deserve’ to be forgiven. That’s why it’s a very precious gift.

C.S. LEWIS QUOTE: “A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice… You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”

BIBLICAL EASTER ~ CRAFTS / GAMES FOR KIDS ~ FREE PRINTABLE
Easter – devotional and craft – decorate a cross There is nothing beautiful about a cross. The Romans used it to execute their worst criminals. The representative of the known ruler of the world declared Jesus Christ innocent of all charges. But Jesus turned the cross into a beautiful thing when he gave his life for our sins and the sins of the world. Barabbas was our representative. He went free. The innocent died for the guilty. Jesus died in his (and our) place. God can make all things beautiful, even the ugliest thing on earth. Idea: Decorate a blank cross with stickers, scraps of coloured paper, pencils, paints, etc.
