AHOY ME HEARTIES! ARRR! YAR HA ARRR!
One of my most favourite themes that I have done for my sponsored kids was a Bible Treasure theme full of pirates, treasure chests, and swashbuckling adventure to encourage them to dig into eternal treasure and the promises of God. It was such fun! Here is a sample of what I sent and how I did it.

BIBLE TREASURE THEME ~ ADAPT FOR YOUR CHILD
This is a great theme that can be adapted for boys and girls of any age. There is a lot to cover, so it will be split into 3 separate posts. All items here are available for free printable download and have been designed exclusively for you. I had to completely redo all of them for this web site with images that we could freely use, so I have deliberately designed this theme so that it can be adapted for your child no matter how old they are… enjoy!

BIBLE TREASURE ~ SCRAPBOOK PAGE FOR KIDS ~ FREE PRINTABLE (A4)
The first thing I did for my kids was a Bible Treasure scrapbook page where my kids could write out some of their favourite Bible verses. I decorated it with lots of tiny treasure related clipart (things like treasure chests, gold coins, bits of maps, compasses, etc). My favourite treasure chest was used everywhere in this theme. If you want to add some treasure clip art in to your downloads (or make up your own page using the free template below), use this tutorial as a guide.

A TON OF BIBLE VERSES ~ FREE PRINTABLE LIST
As part of this theme, I introduced my kids to the ton of Bible verses, sending them one page (back-to-back and laminated) at a time. Months later, I still slip in a new page for them each time I post a letter. You are most welcome to print it out for your children, and you can easily adapt it to your child’s favourite colours. In Kefa’s last letter, he wrote, ‘I would like to thank you for letters you send to me. They are making me glad. Especially verses from the Bible you send me to read. I am going to read them and master them so that they help me in difficulties…’

BIBLE TREASURE ~ TREASURE MAP FOR KIDS ~ FREE PRINTABLE (A4)
Of course, every young pirate needs a treasure map. To add your choice of treasure map to this blank template below, use this tutorial as a guide. I started with a standard treasure map, then added my own bits on the map itself to make it specifically a ‘Bible’ Treasure Map. There are some great map ideas for all ages which I have shared with you on a separate post, including a really cute idea for younger children and could be adapted for all of your child’s favourite places, that shows you how to make a map of a playground, weaving around the slides and swings and hopefully ending up in the sand box to dig for the treasure. :)

BIBLE TREASURE ~ TRACEOVER PUZZLE FOR KIDS ~ FREE PRINTABLE (A4)
Next, I prepared a Bible Treasure traceover worksheet, featuring some cool Bible verses about treasure – Matthew 6:21; Matthew 13:44; 2 Corinthians 4:7; Psalm 119:162; and Colossians 2:3. Most of my kids are also learning English, so this is something that I also included for our older children, to help them with their English studies.

BIBLE TREASURE ~ FRAMES FOR YOUR COLOURING PAGES AND PUZZLES ~ FREE PRINTABLE (A4)
Choose your own treasure colouring and puzzle pages and then jazz them up by inserting them into these two free printable frames. Use this tutorial as a how-to guide. I combined lots of smaller, digging-for-treasure colouring pages (e.g. open treasure chests with coins and treasure spilling out and scattering everywhere) into the one page, to make it look like there was treasure everywhere. Then in the middle of it all, a pirate – ignoring all the coins and finding the greatest treasure of all… a Bible. I will share that link and more great Bible Treasure theme colouring and puzzle pages in part 2. There are two frames – portrait (the same one used for the treasure map) or landscape. And you can also use them as blank stationery for this theme.

Love what you’ve done! Our church youth group’s theme is “Treasure Hunters” so I’m looking for ideas for classroom decorations and graphics I can make large poster/canvas prints for classroom walls.

Hmmm… not sure if I’ve come across anything that big. Did you find anything here that might be suitable, Judy? If not, I’ll have a think about it for you. What a great theme for your youth group and thanks so much for stopping by to chat. :)

What about a really large treasure map? That way you could specifically tailor it for your group.

Thanks Sue! This one was a lot of fun. Thanks for stopping by. I really enjoyed your post about committing our problems to God and trusting Him completely. He will not deliver us from the storm, but He will keep us safe in the storm. Keeping our eyes fixed firmly on Him is the hard part. http://heavenlyraindrops.wordpress.com/2013/10/28/the-particulars-of-persuasion-trusting-god-is-a-commitment/
