THINK SPOT: Carolus Linnaeus (1707-1778), the scientist who designed the original classification system of living things, was just one of many great scientists who believed in the Bible. He knew that God created all living things in family groups or KINDS. That’s why the classification system of living things works. There is tremendous adaptation and variation within each KIND (natural selection), but if a horse-kind animal breeds with another animal from the horse-kind family, it will still be a horse. Of course! In fact, this is one way we can tell what animals or plants belong to an original KIND – whether or not they can naturally breed. In real life, cows breed cows, horses breed horses, and pigs never fly.

Zebra or Horse? A ‘zorse’ of course! (creation.com) Examples of zebra-horse hybrids abound, but few are as stunningly eye-catching as ‘Eclyse’. While most other zorses have stripes across their entire body, Eclyse looks like she’s had her face and rear flank painted by a very clever artist. Zenkey?! Uh huh! (creation.com) this article from scientists who take the Bible seriously is about a zebra / donkey hybrid born in a Japanese zoo. Actually, the offspring of a zebra stallion and donkey mare (called a ‘jenny’) is more usually defined as a ‘zonkey’ or ‘zedonk’, or even ‘zebrass’. But whether zenkey, zonkey or zedonk [are your eyes swirling at this point, haha?!] the appearance of this little foal sure caused a stir… ‘A donkey was pregnant and everybody was expecting a donkey foal.’ But the keepers were surprised when a striped foal was born! Was it a donkey, or…? It had a donkey’s ears, and the black ‘cross’ mark on its withers is characteristic of donkey foals, but oh… those stripes!

Zippy Zonkey (creation.com) When Kristine Turner, of Somerset, UK, woke up one morning, she got a big surprise. She hadn’t realized that her six-year-old zebra Ziggy had become pregnant to one of the donkeys sharing the same field… “I just saw this little foal sitting up staring my way.
